My whole life I have had to deal with questions on my name.
For example
- that is a boy name
- is it short for Roberta
- Being called Robin (there is not N sound at the end of my name)
- being accused of not being Robbie (this goes back to it being a boy name)
- did your dad want a boy
- where did a name like Robbie come from?
I have faced this my whole life, but it seemed to have died down. I am not sure if it is because more names are less gender specific or if abnormally names are now the norm. For a long time I have not had to explain my name, until recently. I have been asked how I got my name and what it is short for from the managers at Pacific Ethanol (the ethanol plant next to us) and then while in Wallula (another Boise plant in Whashington) the guard assumed my name was short for Roberta and then a few days after that I am questioned on whether the credit card I am using is indeed mine, she just wanted to make sure I was not using my husbands card!
Oh well, at least my name is original.

Even though I am not you, I get called Robin by people who know you!! I am a little worried about that with Asher's name. We had to take him to the E.R. when he was little and the doctor kept saying "she". But oddly enough his name is becoming more popular, so hopefully it won't be an issue!
Found these on http://urbandictionary.com. I don't know who came up with the idea for that site but the definitions are always good for a laugh.
1. robbie - A very nice man who likes to steal obese children from their homes at night, then making them lose weight before returning them back to their parents. Usually unscathed.
"Dude, Billy Jean got robbied last night."
"About time, he was such a fat ass. Hopefully he'll be able to move without needing that forklift when he gets back."
2. robbie - when somthing good happens somthing bad has to happen...
'i got laid last night but then the condom split'
'that is such a robbie'
im sorry honey... i love your name. and I love you too
Okay, so I just looked at the last comment I left on your blog and I wanted to say I was sorry. I really don't think it came across the way I wanted it to. . . which to be totally honest I am not sure what I was trying to do other than make you smile and laugh at how stupid people can be but I wasn't trying to show how stupid I could be. . . Sometimes I really wonder if there is anything between my ears other than empty space.
Personally, I like your name. I think it is original and I like original.
And then I went and posted again with out rereading. . . From now on I will wait 24 hours before posting a comment. . .
